Dental Veneers

Are you worried about your discoloured, stained or misshapen teeth? Do you often find yourself hiding your teeth when you smile? If the answer is yes, we may have just the solution for you – Dental Veneers.

Dental veneers are used to change the appearance of teeth and improve aesthetics. Dental veneers are thin tooth-coloured coverings or shells placed on the front surface of the intended misshapen and discoloured teeth. Dental veneers alter the shape, size, and colour of the teeth permanently.

At Tecumseh Family Dental, Dental veneers are most commonly used for the following purposes:

  • To cover severely discoloured and stained teeth.
  • To reshape misshapen teeth.
  • To rebuild chipped, fractured and cracked teeth.
  • Dental veneers can also seamlessly close minor gaps between two teeth.

Types of Dental Veneers:

Porcelain Dental Veneers

We aim to provide our patients with the best available and advanced treatment modalities when it comes to aesthetic dentistry. Therefore, we use the most recommended and superior material for making your dental veneers. Porcelain is strong dental material, resists chipping and breakage, stains less and can be manipulated efficiently to match your natural teeth shade. They give excellent cosmetic outcomes and can last up to 20 years with proper oral health care.

Composite Resin Dental Veneers

Composite resin veneers procedure is carried out directly in the mouth. It does not require extensive tooth preparation, and the process can be completed in a single visit. In addition, composite resin veneers are less expensive. However, they do not have a long lifetime as porcelain veneers do and tend to chip and crack more often.
Composite resin veneers can not replicate a natural tooth’s appearance. This means the aesthetic outcome is a little inferior when compared to porcelain veneers. These veneers are also prone to discolouration and can last only up to 5 years.

Other Dental Veneers Benefits

  • Dental veneers can improve facial and smile aesthetics.
  • Whitens and brightens the teeth.
  • Corrects and rebuilds cracked, fractured and misshapen teeth.
  • Eliminates the need for orthodontic treatment by closing tiny gaps between teeth.
  • Conceals large dental filings.

The Dental Veneer Procedure

At Tecumseh Family Dental, your porcelain dental veneer appointment will start with a complete oral examination. One of our general dentist will check your oral health to find out if dental veneers are the right choice for you. Once cleared, they will study your teeth structure, understand your cosmetic concerns and then derive a customized treatment plan.

The number of teeth that will receive dental veneers are decided. A complete dental cleaning is carried out to ensure disease and infection-free mouth. Our dentist will then remove a small portion of your teeth. This is done to create space for the placement of your dental veneers.

Next, a dental impression of your upper and lower teeth is taken. The shade of your veneers is also decided during this stage.

Mock-up veneers will be placed to check for proper fit and bite in the next appointment. They will also check for stability and aesthetic outcome. After ensuring everything is right, our dentist will fabricate your permanent dental veneers.

Once dental veneers are ready, you will be called for an appointment. The veneers are again checked for their shape, size and colour and placed on the front surface of the intended tooth with the help of dental cement.
